Rising sophomore William Zimmermann is a proud Midwesterner. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota William lived in St. Paul, Minnesota until 6th grade. Instead of a normal elementary education William attended Adams Spanish Immersion School for 5 years then Parkview Center School. Now he a resident of Duluth, Minnesota, which he believes is the greatest city in America as he attends Syracuse University.
Beginning this semester William will be in the dual major program with Whitman School of Management and Newhouse School of Public Communications to continue his interest in business while pursuing his love of movies. In Whitman he is apart of the first class of Peer Mentors for the IMPRESS program which will start once the incoming freshman arrive on campus Thursday August 21st. To include continue his love of movies he is in DKA, a recently formed professional film fraternity on campus. William also volunteers with Orangeseeds, a first year and transfer program in which older students mentor underclassmen while introducing them to the surrounding Syracuse city and ultimately help plan the Big Event in the spring. This past year William was a “seed” and now he will be a mentor.
Outside from his studies, William is interested in watching and making movies, riding around on his 36 year old motorcycle, sailing, and playing soccer, tennis, hockey. This year William is excited to help mentor first year and transfer students, gain more leadership experience, and work on bringing together his interests in business and film making. William is another #WhitmanWatch student to watch out for in the future.
